BUTTERFLY BOW

Learn how to crochet rose colored bow with it’s rippled edge that can be used to accessorize a hairband or hat pattern.
I could not wait to share this quaint pattern where you can create and accessorize with this bow in less than 30 minutes.
TO GET STARTED GRAB:
- Stitch markers, tapestry needle, and scissors.
- Medium weighted yarn in a color of your choice.
- Crochet hook sized 4.0 mm F/6
CROCHET KEY (U.S. terms):
- ST/STS – STICH/SITCHES
- CH – CHAIN
- SC – SINGLE CROCHET
- BLSC – BACK LOOP SINGLE CROCHET
- HDC – HALF DOUBLE CROCHET
- DCTOG – DOUBLE CROCHET TOGETHER
- SL ST – SLIP STITCH
- RND – ROUND
- ROW – ROW
Special Stitches:
Back Loop Single Crochet (BLSC)-
Looking at the top of your work you will see a single crochet stitch and that it makes a V shape. Next put your hook under the loop farthest from you and pull up a loop. From here complete a single crochet. (Normally you would place your hook under both loops.)
Double Crochet Together (DCTOG)-
A decrease technique in crochet. First yarn over and insert the hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops (leaving 2 loops on the hook). Yarn over and insert the hook into the next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, leave 4 loops on the hook. Yarn over again and pull through the first 2 loops on the hook, yarn over and pull through all three remaining loops on the hook to complete.
BUTTERFLY BOW PATTERN:

ROW 1: CH 21, 1 SC in the 2nd CH from the hook, 1 SC in the next 19 STS. (CH 20)
ROW 2-14: CH 1, Turn, 1 SC in the next 20 STS. (CH 20)
BOW EDGE ROW: CH 1, Turn, (1 HDC, 1 DC, CH 1, 1 DC, 2 HDC) in the base of the CH 1, *Skip 2 STS, (1 HDC, 1 DC, CH 1, 1 DC, 1 HDC) in the next ST*, Repeat * to * 18 more times, skip 2 and SL ST into the base of the CH 1 from the start of the round. Weave in the ends and finish.
CREATE BOW CENTER:
In under three steps finish the bow:

PREP:
Fold square in half horizontally toward you, pinch from the back and fold the top edge up and away from you, fold the bottom edge of the square down and away.

HOLD:
Keep pinching together to form the center of the bow. Cut about 20 inches of yarn, leave about a 2 inch tail.

WEAVE:
Wrap the yarn around the bow center 20 times, you should end up with a 2 inch tail.
Use the 2 tails to tie the bow to the headband or hat.
NOTE:
Crochet less than 21 rows for a smaller bow size.
*(Keep the final chain count an even number, then 1 extra chain for the turning chain.)
HAPPY CROCHETING!!!
