LAYERED FLOWER INFANT HEADBAND PATTERN

Let’s learn to crochet a matching Mom and Daughter outfit with this layered floral headband!
I could not wait to share this precocious headband pattern for beginners. (Sized for Toddlers to Adults)
Let’s Spread the love & GRAB:
- Stitch markers, tapestry needle, and scissors.
- Bernat Baby Sport Yarn in a color of your choice.
- Crochet hook sized 4.0 mm F/6
CROCHET KEY (U.S. terms):
- ST/STS – STICH/SITCHES
- CH – CHAIN
- SC – SINGLE CROCHET
- FLSC – FRONT LOOP SINGLE CROCHET
- BLSC – BACK LOOP SINGLE CROCHET
- SL ST – SLIP STITCH
- RND – ROUND
- ROW – ROW
Special Stitches:
Front Loop Single Crochet (FLSC)-
Looking at the top of your work you will see a single crochet stitch and that it makes a V shape. Next put your hook under the loop closest to you and pull up a loop. From here complete a single crochet. (Normally you would place your hook under both loops.)
Back Loop Single Crochet (BLSC)-
Looking at the top of your work you will see a single crochet stitch and that it makes a V shape. Next put your hook under the loop farthest from you and pull up a loop. From here complete a single crochet. (Normally you would place your hook under both loops.)
LAYERED FLOWER HEADBAND PATTERN:

ROW 1: SL ST, CH 8 to start, CH 1 and turn.
ROW 2: 1 SC in the 2nd loop from the hook, 1 SC in each ST to the end or the ROW, Ch 1 and turn.

ROW 4: *1 FLSC across to the end of the row, CH 1 and turn. (7 STS)
ROW 5-58: Repeat ROW 3 to 4 by rotating them, SL ST to end ROW 58. Fold the headband in half, line up the two ends and weave them together. Leave a 1 1/2 inch tail to use while weaving the headband ends together.
Create the small & Medium flowers:

SMALL PATTERN:
ROW 1: (Six Petals) Create a MAGIC CIRCLE, CH 1, 1 SC in the center of the magic circle, SL ST into the top of the first SC to end the round.
*Leave about a 1 inch tail on both ends of the small flower to use when you connect to the medium flower.
ROW 2: 3 DCTOG in the next 2 STS, *(2 DCTOG into the base of the CH 2, keep 3 loops on your hook, 2 DCTOG into the 3rd ST, finish the 4 DCTOG by pulling through the 5 remaining loops on your hook, CH 3, SL ST in the same CH.)* CH 2 to start the next 4 DCTOG in the next 2 STS. * Repeat this step until the end of the round.

MEDIUM FLOWER:
ROW 1: Create a MAGIC CIRCLE, CH 1, SL ST into the top of the first SC to end the ROW, CH 1.
ROW 2: SC into each ST around, CH 2 at the end of the row. (16 STS)
ROW 3: 4 DCTOG STS in the next 2 STS, *(2 DCTOG into the base of the CH 2, keep 3 loops on the hook, 2 DCTOG into the 2nd ST, finish the 4 DCTOG by pulling through the 5 remaining loops on the hook)*, CH 2 to start the 4 DCTOG in the next 2 sts, Repeat * to * until the end of the round.
THREE STEPS TO COMPLETE THE HEADBAND:

WEAVE:
Thread the blue tails from the small flower through the center of the medium (white) flower.

THREAD:
Flip the two flowers over and from the back weave the two flowers together.

FINISH:
Using the tail ends from the medium (white) flower tie the flowers to the headband. You may want to layer the flowers over the seam from when you connected to ends of the headbands together as a way to hide that stitch. Weave in any remaining ends and complete the pattern.
NOTE:
Headband Size:
Toddler – 82 ROWS
Adult – 98 ROWS
Flower Shape & Size:
Small – 6 Petals
Medium – 8 Petals
HAPPY CROCHETING!!!
